Lesson 1
Parallel Lines: Lines that are coplanar and do not ever intersect. The symbol is similar to ||. In images such as graphs will have an arrow to show they are parallel. If it shows more than one set, there will be varying number of arrows. These arrows are different than arrows to show a line.
Parallel lines have the same slopes.
(The red line will be Line A and the green line will be Line B)
Line A and Line B are parallel.
We base many things later on in Geometry off of parallel lines and other types of lines.

Skew Lines: Lines that are not parallel, but will never intersect. They are not on the same plane.
In the image above, there are more than one pair of skew lines.
Line QX and Line PS are skew lines.
There is no symbol for skew lines.

Perpendicular Lines: Lines that intersect to form at most 4 right angles which each measure 90 degrees.
The symbol for perpendicular lines is ⊥.
Perpendicular lines have slopes that are opposite reciprocals. If one slope was 4 the perpendicular slope would be -1/4.
In the image above, Segment AB is perpendicular to Segment MN which you can see why the small box on the right of Segment MN. That box means it is a right angle.
